Miguel Ruiz-Canela | University of Navarra

Dr. Miguel Ruiz-Canela is Professor and Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Navarra. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Navarra and Master’s Degree on Public Health in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. His research is focused on the relationship between diet and healthy cooking with chronic diseases. He is co-PI of the PREDIMAR randomized trial, a nutritional intervention study on secondary prevention of atrial fibrillation funded by the Spanish NIH. He is also co-PI of a project on “Dietary Interventions, Metabolites, and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes” funded by the NIH. He has the title of chef en partie and he is involved in several projects on culinary medicine, including the Erasmus+ project Cook2DIAbeat where he is the coordinator of a 5-countries’ consortium. He has served as collaborator of the Spanish Research Agency for 4 years and he is First Editor of the British Medical Journal. According to the WoS, he has published almost 300 papers with an H index of 48.
